This year, the Community Housing Recognition Awards 2027 offers exciting new opportunities for communities across Canada to get involved. The categories will showcase a diverse range of achievements in First Nations housing, ensuring the categories are meaningful, relevant, and inclusive.
This is your chance to share your success stories with delegates at the upcoming First Nations Housing Conference 2027, taking place from February 23 - 25, 2027 at the Valhalla Hotel & Conference Centre, Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Winners will be contacted directly by representatives of the First Nations Housing Community. Award recipients may be asked to present their story at the conference.
Project Categories:
Nominations are accepted across three project categories - Technical, Administrative, and Leadership. Whether your community has advanced innovative housing solutions or demonstrated outstanding leadership and collaboration, we invite you to share your story and be recognized for the impact you are making.
Technical
Recognizes projects like new home construction, renovation of existing homes, infrastructure improvements, Energy efficiency upgrades, innovation in building methods or materials, Sustainability initiatives.

Administrative
Recognizes projects housing policy, housing strategic plan, financial management, budgeting, tenant Relations, records management, asset management/reporting, community planning.

The Founder Awards recognize outstanding achievements in First Nations housing by communities represented through the First Nations Housing Community's Founder Tribal Councils from Ontario. The Regional Awards recognize excellence and achievements in First Nations housing from communities outside of the First Nations Housing Community's Founder Tribal Councils. First Nations communities from all provinces and territories across Canada are eligible to apply under this category, highlighting the diverse approaches, successes, and contributions of First Nations communities nationwide.
